KCCA al­leges PCB for its dis­crim­i­natary role

KARACHI—Karachi City Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion (KCCA) has al­leged for ig­nor­ing play­ers from Karachi in Pak­istan’s Eng­land bound team de­spite show­ing bril­liant per­for­mance in do­mes­tic cricket.

Spokesman KCCA Jamil Ahmed in a state­ment stated here on Monday that Khur­ram Man­zoor,Fawad Alam, Asif Zakir and Ak­bar-u-Rehman had shown out­stand­ing per­for­mance in the do­mes­tic cricket, but th­ese play­ers were not given place in the na­tional team tour to Eng­land.

He urged the se­lec­tion com­mit­tee of PCB that it should ex­plain what kind of cri­te­ria it was fol­low­ing for in­clu­sion of play­ers for tour abroad.

The spokesman KCCA ques­tions that ei­ther se­lec­tion on per­for­mance is made in do­mes­tic cricket or fit­ness, personal lik­ings and dis-lik­ings, nepo­tism and con­tacts is the cri­te­ria.

Var­i­ous ques­tions were be­ing raised over the se­lec­tion of na­tional team for Eng­land tour but so far se­lec­tion com­mit­tee could not come up with suit­able an­swers, he al­leged.

The KCCA had al­ready sent a let­ter to PBC Chair­man Shah­yar Muham­mad Khan lodg­ing As­so­ci­a­tion’s com­plain and ex­pect­ing that the Board Chair­man would take a no­tice of the is­sue by pro­vid­ing jus­tice to the play­ers from Karachi.—APP
