Tarap-Pindigheb section of Hakla-DIK contract approved
ISLAMABAD— Executive Board of the National Highway Authority met Tuesday with Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar in the chair to review progress on countrywide highway schemes and various financial and administrative affairs of the authority. The Board, during the meeting, accorded approval for award of works for Pindigheb to Tarap (PackageIV) of Hakla-DIKhan Motorway which is part of western route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. 50 km 4-lane section will be completed in two years at a cost of around Rs. 21 billion.
The meeting also reviewed progress over Takht Bhai Flyover and desired to expedite work for its timely completion. This flyover (600 m) is being completed at cost of Rs. 851 million and is scheduled to comple by July 2016.
The meeting was told that 86% work was completed on rehabilitation of Quetta Airport Road. Chairman directed the concerned staff to complete the remaining work of this 7.7 km road by next month. Matters related to Hassanabdal-Havelian Expressway, Yarik-Rehmani Khel Section of HaklaD.I.Khan Motorway and up gradation of N-5 from Thokar Niaz Baig to Hudyiara Drain also came under discussion during the meeting.
Chairman NHA, while speaking on the occasion, said NHA was trying to promote local contractors by giving them more opportunities in road construction schemes. He informed that a detailed plan on restructuring and re-organization of NHA was prepared in order to enhance its performance. Internal audit system was strengthened and efforts were made to make the organization more independent and self-reliant.
