PSQCA to start oper­a­tion against sub­stan­dard cook­ing oil, ghee

LAHORE —Pak­istan Stan­dard Qual­ity Con­trol Author­ity (PSQCA) on Tues­day de­cided to start an oper­a­tion against sub­stan­dard cook­ing oil, Banas­patti Ghee and open ed­i­ble oil prod­ucts man­u­fac­tur­ers. All the con­cerned di­rec­tor have been or­dered to ac­cel­er­ate mar­ket sur­vey and ini­ti­ate le­gal ac­tion against all th­ese black sheep. It was de­cided in a meet­ing of the PSQCA with Pak­istan Vanas­pati Man­u­fac­tur­ing As­so­ci­a­tion (PVMA) which was chaired by Di­rec­tor Gen­eral PSQCA Engr. Muham­mad Khalid Sid­diq here at the PSQCA, CA-North SDC Of­fice here on Tues­day.

Ghu­lam Umer Kazi Sec­re­tary PSQCA, Dr. She­hzad Afzal Dy. DG (QC), Muham­mad Yasin Akhtar Di­rec­tor, CA-North, Ah­mad Nadeem Iqbal, Di­rec­tor TSC and Muhamad Arif Qasim, Chair­man, PVMA, Umer Is­lam Khan, Sec­re­tary Gen­eral PVMA, Abid Ma­lik, Di­rec­tor PVMA and other Mem­bers of PVMA were also present on the oc­ca­sion. It was also de­cided that a com­bined pol­icy to han­dle black sheep in the in­dus­trial sec­tor would be formed. Filler and open sale of cook­ing oil and Banas­patti Ghee would be dis­cour­aged and would be met with an iron hand.

Both the par­ties agreed to de­clare the Vi­ta­min “D” com­pul­sory in Cook­ing and Banas­patti Ghee. The PVMA dis­cussed and place the agenda items on qual­ity is­sues and en­sured the PSQCA for its co­op­er­a­tion and col­lec­tive work­ing for the bet­ter Pak­istan. The Chair­man, PVMA high­lighted the im­por­tant role of PSQCA and ex­tended full co­op­er­a­tion to im­prove the im­ple­men­ta­tion of the PSQCA pol­icy. The DG PSQCA also as­sured his full sup­port in in­creas­ing the ef­fec­tive­ness and strength­en­ing value of manda­tory prod­ucts.—APP
