NAB raids KU vice chan­cel­lor of­fice, seizes record

KARACHI—The NAB ,in a sur­prise move, raided the of­fice of the Karachi Univer­sity Vice Chan­cel­lor ,and took in pos­ses­sion records, but no ex­pla­na­tion was of­fered as to the rea­son that prompted the fed­eral in­ves­ti­ga­tors to re­sort to such tac­tics

Sources re­vealed that en­quiries have been on against sit­ting VC Dr Qaiser, and pre­de­ces­sor Qasim Pirzada, but what kind of probe and for what rea­sons is still a mys­tery. NAB said that it also recorded state­ments of four em­ploy­ees of the ad­min­is­tra­tion block.

Dr Muham­mad Qaisar was ap­pointed as the Vice Chan­cel­lor of Karachi Univer­sity on Fe­bru­ary 10, 2012. His ten­ure as the Vice Chan­cel­lor of the univer­sity was to end on Fe­bru­ary 9 of this year how­ever, Gov­er­nor Ishrat-ul-Ibad ex­tended his ten­ure with the pow­ers vested in him as the Chan­cel­lor of Karachi Univer­sity.
