Wind­storm, rain­fall claim 3 lives, in­jur­ing 20

PE­SHAWAR—Strong winds and rain­fall with hail storm on Wed­nes­day claimed three lives in­clud­ing a two year child, in­jur­ing 20 oth­ers in provin­cial me­trop­o­lis while blow­ing away trees, bill­boards, elec­tric­ity polls and loss of prop­erty.

Ac­cord­ing to spokesman of res­cue 1122, some 14 in­ci­dents of roof col­lapse, tree, bill­boards elec­tric­ity polls re­ported from across the city and Mar­dan killing two year Umer Khan at Khaz­ana Sugar Mill and 30 years Je­hangir at Lady Read­ing Hospi­tal.

He said the in­ci­dents of col­lapses were re­ported from Gul­dara Chowk, Bashir Abad, Acad­emy Town, La­hori Gate, Ko­hat Road, Charsadda Road, Faqir Qale, Uni­ver­sity Town, Hus­sain Chowk, Hy­atabad and Patang Chowk. He said sev­eral rods were in­un­dated due to heavy rain­fall in the city that con­tin­ued for more than two hours.—APP
