Locals protest against power outages
SWABI—Enraged locals on Wednesday shut Swabi-Jehangira Road for all kinds of traffic as part of protest against long durations of power outages in holy month of Ramazan. Police resorted to baton-charge and aerial firing to disperse the protesters however, retaliation by the locals injured Assistant Commissioner, Samiullah of Chota Lahore area.
According to the locals, they are facing 15-hour long power outages on daily basis while whatever voltage the area is being supplied is insufficient. Protesters have warned the administration of continuing protest until they are relieved of the suffering.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company stated that increased shortfall is leading to long hours of power outages. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had issued directives from London to ensure electricity supply during Ramazan.—DNA
