Afghan da­coits gang busted

ISLAMABAD—Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit ((SIU) of Islamabad po­lice has busted a gang of Afghan da­coits and re­cov­ered weapons from gang leader, po­lice said.

Ac­cord­ing to de­tails, a da­coity took place in a Chi­nese house namely Zheng Zhaori re­sid­ing at House No. 05 Street No. 33, Sec­tor F-6/1 Islamabad on Fe­bru­ary 22, 2016. Four da­coits looted Rs. 3.8 mil­lion and two mo­bile sets fol­low­ing which FIR (No.75) was reg­is­tered un­der sec­tion 392 PPC at Kohsar po­lice sta­tion.

Fol­low­ing this in­ci­dent, SP In­ves­ti­ga­tion Capt (r) Muh­m­mad Ilyas as­signed the task to SIU team com­pris­ing of Shams-ulAk­ber SI, Sule­man Shah ASI, Con­sta­bles Waseem Iqbal, Ali As­ghar, Sa­jid Khan, Hamid Shah, Sha­heen Iqbal to trace out the cul­prits.

This team worked on the case us­ing hu­man in­tel­li­gence (In­form­ers) and tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance (mo­bile data anal­y­sis etc) fol­low­ing which it traced the gang of da­coits iden­ti­fied as ‘Mustafa Afghani gang’ com­pris­ing of 5/6 da­coits. Af­ter hec­tic and pro­fes­sional ef­forts, the team ap­pre­hended the gang leader namely Ghu­lam Mustafa s/o Aziz Khan res­i­dent of Darra Noor Sar­war Wi­layat Jalal Abad Afghanistan.

Dur­ing the pre­lim­i­nary in­ves­ti­ga­tion, he con­fessed in­volve­ment in da­coity at the house of Chi­nese na­tional and oth­ers at sec­tors F-7/1, F-6/1, F-10/3, G-9/3 and H-13.

All the other mem­bers of the gang are Afghans and they used to come in group from Afghanistan via Torkham Bor­der to Islamabad us­ing a rented car. They used to ran­domly select F or G sec­tors, tar­get houses and took away all the looted ar­ti­cles to Afghanistan. Po­lice also re­cov­ered weapons from the nabbed per­son and fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion is un­der­way.—APP
