RCB seals 60 prop­er­ties for non­pay­ment of tax

RAWALPINDI—The Rawalpindi Can­ton­ment Board (RCB) tax re­cov­ery teams on Wed­nes­day sealed 60 build­ings as their own­ers were prop­erty tax de­fault­ers. Ac­cord­ing to RCB spokesman, the civic body sealed the prop­er­ties in Mas­rial Road, Sad­dar, Naseer­abad, Al­la­habad, Dhoke Ba­naras, Dhoke Mus­ta­keem and Mar­ble Fac­tory ar­eas.

The board on Wed­nes­day also re­cov­ered prop­erty tax ar­rears amout­ing to Rs 5.2 mil­lion. He in­formed, the board had made it clear that the build­ings would not be de-sealed un­til the own­ers would pay the prop­erty tax. He said, the RCB teams also dis­con­nected wa­ter sup­ply con­nec­tions of 35 do­mes­tic and com­mer­cial units in dif­fer­ent ar­eas as the own­ers failed to pay the wa­ter sup­ply charges. On the di­rec­tive of Can­ton­ment Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer (CEO) RCB, Dr. Saima Shah, the tax re­cov­ery cam­paign has been ac­cel­er­ated, he added.—APP
