Teach­ers’ piv­tol role for devel­op­ment in ed­u­ca­tion sec­tor lauded

KARACHI—Teach­ers play a piv­otal role in the devel­op­ment and progress of the so­ci­ety and com­mu­nity. This was stated by the Dean of Karachi Uni­ver­sity’s Fac­ulty of Ed­u­ca­tion, Prof Dr Sh­agufta Shahzadi, on Wed­nes­day.

She was ad­dress­ing a cer­e­mony on com­ple­tion of four years of Fac­ulty of Ed­u­ca­tion, Uni­ver­sity of Karachi. Dr. Sh­agufta was of the opin­ion that the teach­ers need to be pro­fes­sion­ally trained in or­der to guide the stu­dents for fac­ing the mod­ern chal­lenges of the con­tem­po­rary world.

She pointed out that the Fac­ulty of Ed­u­ca­tion, Karachi Uni­ver­sity, has com­pleted its four years and the credit of its suc­cess goes to the Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof. Dr. Muham­mad Qaiser.

It was fur­ther pointed out that the cour­ses in the new B.Ed. pro­gram have been de­vel­oped at na­tional level af­ter con­sul­ta­tion with USAid, HEC, na­tional and in­ter­na­tional ex­perts.

This cur­ricu­lum is used in var­i­ous pres­ti­gious uni­ver­si­ties of the coun­try. Dr. Sh­agufta said that the first batch of our pro­gram has come out and some of them are al­ready in jobs be­fore an­nounce­ment of their re­sults.

She thanked the Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof. Dr. Muham­mad Qaiser and Dean Fac­ulty of So­cial Sciences KU Prof. Dr. Moo­nis Ah­mar for their sup­port to­wards the aca­demic ac­tiv­i­ties of Fac­ulty of Ed­u­ca­tion KU.—APP
