Nine killed in road ac­ci­dents

SAHIWAL—Nine per­sons were killed and more than 35 in­jured in two sep­a­rate ac­ci­dents in Sahiwal and Muzaf­far­garh on Thurs­day. In Sahiwal, a speed­ing bus col­lided with a truck com­ing from op­po­site di­rec­tion near Sahiwal killing six per­sons and in­jur­ing more than 35.

The ill-fated bus was trav­el­ling to La­hore from Sukkur. Res­cue teams reached the spot and shifted the in­jured to Dis­trict Head­quar­ters Hospi­tal where con­di­tion of seven in­jured per­sons is stated to be crit­i­cal. Drivers of bus and truck were among the dead. Eye­wit­nesses said that the bus was over­loaded and was driven at a very fast speed.

In Muzaf­far­garh, at least three per­sons died and an­other in­jured in col­li­sion be­tween oil tanker and mo­tor­cy­cle on Thurs­day. Po­lice said that the ac­ci­dent took place at Jalo Saho Road of Muzaf­far­garh where an over speed­ing oil tanker knocked down a mo­tor­cy­cle car­ry­ing four peo­ple.

Three bike rid­ers died on the spot while an­other was crit­i­cally wounded who was rushed to hospi­tal for treat­ment while the bod­ies were also handed over to heirs af­ter post­mortem.—DNA
