Women protest cutting of walnut trees
CHITRAL—The women in large number here Thursday at Eizj village of Garamchishma protested against officials of the district administration and Communication and Works (C&W) Department for their failure to stop the illegal cutting of the precious Walnut trees in the district.
They were carrying banners in their hands inscribed with slogan of appeal to KP Govt to save the illegal cutting of the walnut trees. Residents of Eizj village including women folk peacefully protested in front of their houses and walnut trees. They alleged that walnut trees were being cut in order to construct a road leading to PPP MPA Saleem Khan.
They said that the MPA pressurized the district administration and Deputy commissioner Chitral imposed section 4 to forcibly occupy the land for this road which is totally injustice. They said that there are 30 houses in MPA’s village Kandojal but the administration was cutting walnut trees in 150 houses with which are full of fruit. Executive Engineer C&W and DC Chitral when contacted to seek their opiniion on the matter refused to make any comment.—APP
