Nation can be proud of Zarb-i-Azb successes
Spokesman of the Army Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa, in a com prehensive and impressive briefing on Wednesday, summed up suc cesses achieved by operation Zarb-i-Azb during the last two years. While talking about remarkable gains that have led to improvement of security and law and order situation in the country, he conveyed a firm message to fleeing terrorists that the operation would continue till elimination of the menace from each and every corner of Pakistan.
The figures released by the Director-General ISPR clearly show that Pakistan Army has been able to score unmatched success in the war against terror, which no other country including the United States can boast. There is no denying the fact that today the incidents of bomb blasts, suicide attacks, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion have significantly come down and normal life has resumed. This is particularly so in the case of FATA and Swat, which were infested with the virus of extremism and terrorism and the virus was spreading fast to the length and breadth of the country. An impression was gaining ground that terrorism was becoming uncontrollable and both local and foreign observers were expressing fears about what is in store for Pakistan. The credit surely goes to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who demonstrated indomitable spirit and extraordinary courage to take the bull by horns and expressed his determination to fight the menace out once for all, come what may. As failure was no option, he meticulously planned the campaign against terror and implemented it in a phased manner, consolidating gains in areas cleared of terrorists. Today, most of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have returned to their homes to resume their daily routine and the process of rehabilitation would hopefully be completed by the end of the year. The monumental success of Pakistan Army in operation Zarb-i-Azb has earned respectability for the country in the comity of nations as a firm message has gone about ability, capacity and commitment of Pakistan to address the challenge squarely. The nation can, therefore, justifiably be proud of the exemplary gains in the operation. On this occasion, we also pay compliments to General Bajwa, who is having a duly furbished and modern PR set up that motivated the nation and kept it abreast of the successes.
