RCB CEO in­spects clean­li­ness of nul­lahs

RAWALPINDI—Can­ton­ment Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer (CEO) Dr. Saima Shah Thurs­day re­viewed clean­li­ness of nul­lahs in­clud­ing As­lam Mar­ket, Ra­dio Pak­istan, Faisal Colony and Qubba Mar­ket.

Dur­ing a sur­prise visit, she checked the work car­ried out for clean­li­ness of the nul­lahs be­fore on­set of mon­soon sea­son and ap­pre­ci­ated the work of the san­i­ta­tion branch.

Cantt En­gi­neer Muham­mad Adil, As­sis­tant Cantt Engr Muham­mad Shafqat, Chief San­i­tary In­spec­tor Waris Bhatti and other of­fi­cials were present on the oc­ca­sion.

Ac­cord­ing to RCB spokesman Qasir Mah­mood, the CEO di­rected the san­i­ta­tion depart­ment of­fi­cials to ac­cel­er­ate clean­li­ness work.

He said the civic body has taken ef­fec­tive mea­sures to avert any ad­verse sit­u­a­tion or flood­ing in low-ly­ing ar­eas dur­ing the up­com- ing mon­soon sea­son. Pub­lic aware­ness ban­ners and posters for clean­li­ness were also be­ing dis­played in cantt ar­eas. The spokesman said, mea­sures had also been taken to clear eight big nul­lahs which are linked with the main chan­nel of Nul­lah Leh. The clean­li­ness of nul­lahs with the help of heavy ma­chin­ery has been com­pleted at a cost of Rs 3.3 mil­lion, he added.

He said, work of re­mov­ing en­croach­ments from the banks of Nul­lah Leh is also be­ing car­ried out to pre­vent any del­uge dur­ing mon­soon rains.—APP
