RCB CEO inspects cleanliness of nullahs
RAWALPINDI—Cantonment Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Saima Shah Thursday reviewed cleanliness of nullahs including Aslam Market, Radio Pakistan, Faisal Colony and Qubba Market.
During a surprise visit, she checked the work carried out for cleanliness of the nullahs before onset of monsoon season and appreciated the work of the sanitation branch.
Cantt Engineer Muhammad Adil, Assistant Cantt Engr Muhammad Shafqat, Chief Sanitary Inspector Waris Bhatti and other officials were present on the occasion.
According to RCB spokesman Qasir Mahmood, the CEO directed the sanitation department officials to accelerate cleanliness work.
He said the civic body has taken effective measures to avert any adverse situation or flooding in low-lying areas during the upcom- ing monsoon season. Public awareness banners and posters for cleanliness were also being displayed in cantt areas. The spokesman said, measures had also been taken to clear eight big nullahs which are linked with the main channel of Nullah Leh. The cleanliness of nullahs with the help of heavy machinery has been completed at a cost of Rs 3.3 million, he added.
He said, work of removing encroachments from the banks of Nullah Leh is also being carried out to prevent any deluge during monsoon rains.—APP
