SSGC notch up 3rd win after last-ball triumph over SNGPL
KARACHI—Belligerent Tariq Haroon hammered a rapid-fire half century as Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) notched-up third win in a row with a thrilling last-ball one wickets victory over Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) in Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Cricket Tournament here at the Lawai Stadium on Thursday morning.
Tariq, known for his lusty hitting at this ground with hilly backdrop, hoisted as many as half a dozen sixes and one boundary after facing mere 22 balls.
Captain Shoaib Malik slammed 24 balls 28 with four boundaries as SSGC reached the target on the last ball. Fawad Alam made 21 with three boundaries.
Medium pacer Hussain Talat claimed three wickets for 35 runs and fellow pacer Atif Jabbar took two wickets for 24 runs.
Earlier SNGPL electing to bat first, posted a competitive total of 169 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Taimoor Sultan hit seven boundaries and one sixer in his 51 off 31 balls. Hussain Talat hit six fours and one six in his 31-ball knock of 49.
Medium pacer Tabish Khan was pick of his team’s bowling taking three wickets for 34 runs and slow left arm spinner Muhammad Irfan two wickets for 25 runs.
With their third straight win in as many nights, SSGC brightened their chances for the place in the quarterfinal from pool “C”.
