Com­mis­sioner for re­mov­ing all bill­boards by June 20

KARACHI—Com­mis­sioner Karachi, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, has called for re­moval of bill­boards by June 20.

Pre­sid­ing over a meet­ing on Thurs­day, he said that the directives of the Supreme Court are ap­pli­ca­ble to all the or­ga­ni­za­tions.

The meet­ing con­sid­ered the sit­u­a­tion in the wake of ex­pected rains dur­ing the mon­soon.

The Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Provin­cial Dis­as­ter Man­age­ment Au­thor­ity, Sal­man Shah, in­formed the meet­ing that the PDMA is ready for fac­ing any sit­u­a­tion.

He said that if need be, the re­lief camps can be pro­vided to the divi­sional ad­min­is­tra­tion. Sal­man pointed out that PDMA has 20 to 40 horse power suc­tion pumps and th­ese can be promptly handed over to the divi­sional ad­min­is­tra­tion.

Deputy Com­mis­sion­ers in­formed that clean­ing of the chok­ing points of small nal­lah and their clean­ing is con­tin­u­ing. Com­mis­sioner was in­formed that a con­tin­gency plan would also be pre­pared for this year as well.

The Sindh Build­ing Con­trol Au­thor­ity was asked to pub­li­cize the list of 308 di­lap­i­dated build­ings in the me­trop­o­lis.

Ar­range­ments should also be made for pump­ing out ac­cu­mu­lated wa­ter in case of rains.

It was di­rected that the man­age­ments of the build­ings be sent no­tices for re­moval of bill­boards from the pri­vate build­ings.—APP
