Commissioner for removing all billboards by June 20
KARACHI—Commissioner Karachi, Ejaz Ahmed Khan, has called for removal of billboards by June 20.
Presiding over a meeting on Thursday, he said that the directives of the Supreme Court are applicable to all the organizations.
The meeting considered the situation in the wake of expected rains during the monsoon.
The Director General of Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Salman Shah, informed the meeting that the PDMA is ready for facing any situation.
He said that if need be, the relief camps can be provided to the divisional administration. Salman pointed out that PDMA has 20 to 40 horse power suction pumps and these can be promptly handed over to the divisional administration.
Deputy Commissioners informed that cleaning of the choking points of small nallah and their cleaning is continuing. Commissioner was informed that a contingency plan would also be prepared for this year as well.
The Sindh Building Control Authority was asked to publicize the list of 308 dilapidated buildings in the metropolis.
Arrangements should also be made for pumping out accumulated water in case of rains.
It was directed that the managements of the buildings be sent notices for removal of billboards from the private buildings.—APP
