Bilawal receives Bill Gates Foundation offer for polio campaign
KARACHI—PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto received a telephone call from Christopher Elias, President of the Bill Gates and Melinda Foundation Global network for continued help, and coordination in campaign against polio in the southern Sindh province, according to a report.
An announcement here said that a dedicated team of workers were active, despite security fears and other handicaps under the joint leadership of his younger sister Aseefa and auntie Dr Azra Pechuho in an effort to free the country from polio disease.
PPP Chairman was proud to report that his mother and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto had first initiated polio campaigns in Pakistan and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari is the first child who was administered polio drops two decades back. Later on, the government led by President Asif Ali Zardari also ran vigorous drives against polio.
He told Elias that Sindh government has made the Health officials and administrations accountable and all stakeholders were cooperating in this national task to achieve polio free status on the globe.
Meanwhile in another development, the US consul general in Karachi, Brian Heath called on Bilawal Friday, but details of the meeting were not released.
