Yates gets 4-month ban, misses Tour de France
LONDON—British cyclist Simon Yates will miss the Tour de France after being hit with a four-month ban for failing a drugs test. His team OricaGreenEdge announced in April that the 23-year-old had tested positive for Terbutaline at Paris-Nice the previous month, but blamed an “administrative error” over the use of an asthma inhaler.
And on Friday the UCI confirmed Yates’ punishment, which, although backdated to the time of his sample collection, will rule him out of the Tour’s July 2 start. —AFP
