Dol­lar East suf­fers 2nd de­feat in Naya Naz­imabad Ra­mazan Cup

KARACHI—De­fend­ing Cham­pion Dol­lar East hopes dashed for qual­i­fy­ing for the last eight rounds in Naya Naz­imabad Ra­mazan Cup Cricket Tour­na­ment whent it suf­fered a de­feat by 16 runs at the hands of NBP here at the Lawai Sta­dium on Fri­day.

For­mer Pak­istan cap­tain Sal­man Butt, who was banned on the charge of spot-fix­ing by the ICC, slammed an en­ter­pris­ing 63 off 42 balls with seven bound­aries and one six. But that failed to save his team from de­feat.

Chas­ing 170 for vic­tory, Dol­lar East could man­age 153 af­ter los­ing seven wick­ets in 20 overs.

NBP cap­tain Kam­ran Ak­mal hit an at­tack­ing 48 valu­able runes in 31 balls with five fours and two sixes to win the man of the match award. Ah­san Ali con­trib­uted 49 in 37 de­liv­er­ies laced four hits to the bound­ary and two over the ropes.

In­serted to bat first NBP raised a to­tal of 169 for seven wick­ets in 20 overs.

Test pacer Muham­mad Sami snapped-up two wick­ets for 27 and left arm spinner Saa­dat Mu­nir picked up two wick­ets for 33 runs. Sum­ma­rized scores: NBP 169-7 in 20 overs (Ah­san Ali 49, Kam­ran Ak­mal 48, Hafiz Asad 23, Muham­mad Sami 2-27, Saa­dat Mu­nir 2-33)
