MIANWALI—A Pakistan Air Force drone crashed near Headpaka area of Mianwali district on Saturday. The drone had taken off from an airbase six kilometer away from the crash area, a source said. Authorities concerned stated that the aircraft took off from Mianwali base to monitor different areas regarding flood situation and encountered a technical snag.

No injury or casualty was reported on the ground as the aircraft crashed in an unpopulated area. Earlier on January 15, a drone of the air force crashed in Chiniot. The unmanned aircraft belly-landed in a field at Pirwala road and was engulfed in flames. By the end of the same month, another drone which was on a routine flight in the 106-northern area of Sargodha encountered a mechanical fault and crashed.

This is not the first time an air crash has occurred in Mianwali where one of the major airbases of Pakistan is located. She became the first PAF pilot to have died on a mission.
