Farm­ers protest wa­ter short­age

NAWABSHAH—The farm­ers cul­ti­vat­ing agri­cul­ture land on the wa­ter of Dhoro Naro canal have protested over short­age of wa­ter on 11 tail end wa­ter­courses.

Ad­dress­ing a press con­fer­ence at Nawabshah Press Club, Ab­dul Aziz Rind, Muham-mad Bux Khaskheli, Gu­lab Khan Rahu, Im­tiaz Hus­sain Gupchani, Salam Khan Brohi, Muha­bat Khaskheli farm­ers and oth­ers said that their lands are sit­u­ated in Deh Go­jro, Deh Pan­joo Ch­han, Deh Shah Hus­sain and Deh Gupchani.

Th­ese farm­ers said that Ex­ec­u­tive En­gi­neer, Sub Divi­sional Of­fi­cer and Da­roogah of Nas­rat Divi­sion are in­volved in cor­rup­tion and they re­lease wa­ter to in­flu­en­tial grow­ers on pay­ment of lu­cra­tive amounts, which also in­cludes the wa­ter share of tail end grow­ers.

Farm­ers vowed that they are fac­ing grave sit­u­a­tion of paucity of ir­ri­ga­tion wa­ter since last 19 years and over 6500 acres of fer­tile land has tuned bar­ren.
