Ac­coun­tants ap­peal for upgra­da­tion of scale

ISLAMABAD—The Ac­coun­tants work­ing in Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment Ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions FGEIs cantts/ gar­risons have ap­pealed to the au­thor­i­ties to up­grade them from BPS 14 to 16 in the light of court or­ders.

The Ac­coun­tants were of view that or­ders of their upgra­da­tion were passed by the Fed­eral Ser­vices Tri­bunal af­ter hear­ing of their ap­peal.

The court had or­dered on Jan­uary 21 to up­grade the Ac­coun­tants but the con­cerned min­istry of de­fence and Finance Divi­sion have not is­sued their upgra­da­tion no­ti­fi­ca­tion to date. The ac­coun­tants said that they were in great griev­ance due to neg­li­gence of the con­cerned de­part­ments.

Seek­ing equal ba­sic pay scale (BPS), Ac­coun­tants of the Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment ed­u­ca­tional in­sti­tu­tions cantts gar­risons have urged the gov­ern­ment to end dis­crim­i­na­tion by pro­vid­ing scale upgra­da­tions de­liv­ered to Ac­coun­tants of FGEIs Direc­torate islamabad and other de­part­ments of fed­eral min­istries.

The Ac­coun­tants ex­pressed views seek­ing up-gra­da­tions sim­i­lar to what gov­ern­ment has given to FDE ISLAMABAD Ac­coun­tants by re­vis­ing their scale from BPS-14 to BPS-16.

They un­der­scored that all min­istries and other de­part­ments had awarded such upgra­da­tion to their Ac­coun­tants and ques­tioned that why the fed­eral gov­ern­ment was not pay­ing heed to the mat­ter. They de­manded the fed­eral gov­ern­ment to im­prove their scales for well-be­ing of the gov­ern­ment ser­vants in the light of the de­ci­sion of FST.

Ac­coun­tants also showed ea­ger­ness to at­tain scale upgra­da­tion. They urged the fed­eral gov­ern­ment to pro­vide equiv­a­lent sta­tus. They un­der­scored that this was con­sti­tu­tional obli­ga­tion of the gov­ern­ment to avoid dis­crim­i­nat­ing among work­ers.—Agen­cies
