Scru­ti­n­i­sa­tion of nom­i­na­tion pa­pers starts, polls race picks mo­men­tum

OUR HATTIAN BALA, AJK—At the end of the fil­ing of nom­i­na­tion pa­pers on Fri­day for the July 21, 2016 gen­eral elec­tions in Azad Kash­mir, scru­ti­n­i­sa­tion process has started.

AJK Assem­bly has 29 seats for the lib­er­ated ter­ri­tory and 12 for J&K refugees/Oth­ers in Pak­istan, mak­ing it a to­tal of 41-seat House.

Re­ports say that in all 733 can­di­dates have filed their nom­i­na­tions with the re­turn­ing of­fi­cers to con­test for 41 seats. The scru­tiny will com­plete within two days pe­riod.

Mean­while, elec­toral al­liances are still in the mak­ing; Ja­mat Is­lami AJK and JKPP have joined the PMPN sig­nalling a tough­est test for MC-PTI AJK al­liance in the elec­toral race.

Re­act­ing to th­ese al­liances the AJK-PPP chief/prime min­is­ter Ch Ab­dul Ma­jeed has drop a ri­val com­ment that no al­liance can stand a snag in the way of poll vic­tory of his party. He again crit­i­cise what he call be­hind-cur­tain polls dan­gling of the fed­eral min­is­ters.

Mean­while talk­ing to party work­ers gath­er­ing in Zar­dari House Islamabad MNA Faryal Talpur who is incharge of po­lit­i­cal af­fairs of PPP has warned the fed­eral gov­ern­ment to take hands off AJK po­lit­i­cal group­ing af­fairs. She said that the com­mit­ment of PPP with the peo­ple of Kash­mir by his party for lib­er­a­tion of oc­cu­pied Kash­mir is fast and firm.

He dis­pelled runours of splits in the party on elec­toral tick­ets mat­ters.

MNA Talpur said that his party would sweep the AJK elec­tions on the ba­sis of good achieve­ments by the party gov­ern­ment. Our party man­i­festo is re­o­lu­tion­ary, our aims are clear, our vi­sion if to im­prove the eco­nomic fate of the masses in AJK.
