KARACHI—Siemens has inaugurated a new, larger service and repair center in Karachi for generators and motors, extending the range of services offered to cater for increasing customer demand in Pakistan.

The new center, housed at the Siemens Pakistan head office building in Karachi, employs around 30 people and provides facilities and technology for the overhaul, rewinding, emergency repair and testing of motors and generators of up to 10 megawatts (MW). The larger service center has enabled Siemens to ac- commodate more jobs simultaneously, introduce testing for low-voltage motors, install a complete machining facility and fit cranes with an increased weight capacity of 30 tons.

“Pakistan is an important market for Siemens and the country’s dynamic growth presents great opportunities, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy,” said Helmut von Struve, MD of Siemens in Pakistan. “The inauguration of our new facility extends the range of services we offer, drives job creation and enhances our capability to efficiently address the needs of our customers, and Pakistan’s economic development.”
