Int’l cricket ground to be con­structed at Rawal Road

RAWALPINDI —Chair­man Metro Project, Hanif Ab­basi has said that Chief Min­is­ter Pun­jab Muham­mad She­hbaz Sharif is tak­ing keen in­ter­est for pro­mot­ing sports and In­ter­na­tional stan­dard cricket play ground, Jim Khana, swim­ming pool and hockey sta­dium will be con­structed at Rawal Road Rawalpindi at a cost of Rs 200 mil­lion..

He was ad­dress­ing the Ist Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad She­hbaz Sharif Rawalpindi In­ter UC’s Flood light tour­na­ment held at Gov­ern­ment Post grad­u­ate col­lege for Boys 6th Road.

Hanif Ab­basi said, sports were es­sen­tial for phys­i­cal and men­tal health of the youth and no one could deny its im­por­tance.

Pak­istan Mus­lim League-N gov­ern­ment was spend­ing bil­lions of ru­pees in ed­u­ca­tion and health sec­tors and a num­ber of mega projects had been com­pleted within a short time, he added.

He said Rawalpindi In­sti­tute of Car­di­ol­ogy (RIC) had been com­pleted which was ca­pa­ble of car­ry­ing out all kinds of surg­eries and cater­ing to the needs of the poor.

Hanif Ab­basi said that Urol­ogy state-of-theart hospi­tal would be com­pleted by June next year.

A to­tal 19 teams were par­tic­i­pat­ing in the tour­na­ment.

Among oth­ers, MPA Raja Hanif ad­vo­cate, PML-N Pres­i­dent City chap­ter Sar­dar Nasim, Gen­eral Sec­re­tary Mus­lim Stu­dent Fed­er­a­tion Pun­jab Maq­bool Ahmed Khan, Arslan Hafeez, Tour­na­ment Co­or­di­na­tor Sno­bar Gull and a large num­ber of ath­letes were present on the oc­ca­sion.—APP
