Shahbaz visits Sheikhupura hospital without protocol, announces assistance for poor patients
SHEIKHUPURA—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammd Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters (DHQs) Hospital and vegetable market in Sheikhupura.
The CM visited the hospital without any protocol and reviewed the facilities being provided to patients in the hospital and the relief measures taken to facilitate consumers at the Ramazan baazars.
The CM visited different wards of the hospital and asked the patients and their attendants about the treatment facilities.
The Chief Minister said on the occasion that the surprise visits were aimed at ensuring better health facilities for the patients.
He said that resources worth billions of rupees were being provided every year to ensure provision of free medicines to the people in government hospitals.
On complaints of the patients, the CM is- sued directives on-the-spot for treatment and also announced financial assistance for some poor patients.
Shahbaz Sharif ordered free-of cost treatment of an orphan child, Waseem, suffering from bone disease, and announced that the Punjab government would look after the child.
The CM said that doctors, nurses and paramedical staff should do their best for providing best treatment facilities to the patients.
He also ordered for improving cleanliness conditions in the hospital and also expressed his displeasure at the DCO Sheikupura not visiting the hospital regularly. He said that there should be no such complaint in future and he should regularly visit the hospital and help solve problems there.
Shahbaz Sharif directed the DCO to present a report after checking the stock in the medical store. The CM ordered shifting the patients with serious ailments to Lahore hospitals.
Talking to the media on the occasion, he said that in the fiscal year 2016-17, record funds have been allocated to upgrade all DHQs hospitals of Punjab and CT Scan machines would be provided in all district headquarters hospitals.
To a question, he said that he would soon meet the senior doctors and problems of doctors would be solved through talks.
Later, during his visit to Sasta Ramazan Bazaar, he checked the quality and prices of essential items including vegetables, fruits, pulses, etc. The buyers expressed their satisfaction on provision of quality products at low rates.
The CM told people on the occasion the Punjab government had given a historic Ramazan Package worth billions of rupees to provide relief to the common man. He said that more than 300 Sastay Bazaars have been set up in the province.
