Shah­baz vis­its Sheikhupura hospi­tal with­out pro­to­col, an­nounces as­sis­tance for poor pa­tients

SHEIKHUPURA—Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Muhammd Shah­baz Sharif on Sun­day paid a sur­prise visit to Dis­trict Head­quar­ters (DHQs) Hospi­tal and veg­etable mar­ket in Sheikhupura.

The CM vis­ited the hospi­tal with­out any pro­to­col and re­viewed the fa­cil­i­ties be­ing pro­vided to pa­tients in the hospi­tal and the re­lief mea­sures taken to fa­cil­i­tate con­sumers at the Ra­mazan baazars.

The CM vis­ited dif­fer­ent wards of the hospi­tal and asked the pa­tients and their at­ten­dants about the treat­ment fa­cil­i­ties.

The Chief Min­is­ter said on the oc­ca­sion that the sur­prise vis­its were aimed at en­sur­ing bet­ter health fa­cil­i­ties for the pa­tients.

He said that re­sources worth bil­lions of ru­pees were be­ing pro­vided ev­ery year to en­sure pro­vi­sion of free medicines to the peo­ple in gov­ern­ment hospi­tals.

On com­plaints of the pa­tients, the CM is- sued di­rec­tives on-the-spot for treat­ment and also an­nounced fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance for some poor pa­tients.

Shah­baz Sharif or­dered free-of cost treat­ment of an or­phan child, Waseem, suf­fer­ing from bone disease, and an­nounced that the Pun­jab gov­ern­ment would look af­ter the child.

The CM said that doc­tors, nurses and paramed­i­cal staff should do their best for pro­vid­ing best treat­ment fa­cil­i­ties to the pa­tients.

He also or­dered for im­prov­ing clean­li­ness con­di­tions in the hospi­tal and also ex­pressed his dis­plea­sure at the DCO Sheikupura not vis­it­ing the hospi­tal reg­u­larly. He said that there should be no such com­plaint in fu­ture and he should reg­u­larly visit the hospi­tal and help solve prob­lems there.

Shah­baz Sharif di­rected the DCO to present a re­port af­ter check­ing the stock in the med­i­cal store. The CM or­dered shift­ing the pa­tients with se­ri­ous ail­ments to La­hore hospi­tals.

Talk­ing to the me­dia on the oc­ca­sion, he said that in the fis­cal year 2016-17, record funds have been al­lo­cated to up­grade all DHQs hospi­tals of Pun­jab and CT Scan ma­chines would be pro­vided in all dis­trict head­quar­ters hospi­tals.

To a ques­tion, he said that he would soon meet the se­nior doc­tors and prob­lems of doc­tors would be solved through talks.

Later, dur­ing his visit to Sasta Ra­mazan Bazaar, he checked the qual­ity and prices of es­sen­tial items in­clud­ing veg­eta­bles, fruits, pulses, etc. The buy­ers ex­pressed their sat­is­fac­tion on pro­vi­sion of qual­ity prod­ucts at low rates.

The CM told peo­ple on the oc­ca­sion the Pun­jab gov­ern­ment had given a his­toric Ra­mazan Pack­age worth bil­lions of ru­pees to pro­vide re­lief to the com­mon man. He said that more than 300 Sas­tay Bazaars have been set up in the prov­ince.
