Wrong park­ing causes traf­fic jams: CTO

RAWALPINDI—Chief Traf­fic Of­fi­cer (CTO) Iftikhar-ulHaq has asked mo­torists to avoid park­ing their ve­hi­cles in no park­ing ar­eas as it leads to cre­at­ing hur­dle in smooth flow of traf­fic. Talk­ing to APP, act­ing CTO said that wrong park­ing on roads is a ma­jor cause of traf­fic jam in var­i­ous ar­eas of the city.

He ap­pealed to cit­i­zens that it was their ut­most duty to fol­low traf­fic laws as most of the driv­ers vi­o­late road lanes which be­comes cause of ac­ci­dents. Abid­ing by the traf­fic laws could re­duce the ra­tio of traf­fic mishaps, he added.

The CTO said: “The mo­torists and mo­tor­cy­clists should ob­serve traf­fic sig­nals and stop their ve­hi­cles be­hind the stop line, so that the pedes­tri­ans could cross the road eas­ily.

He di­rected the war­dens to pick those ve­hi­cles with help of fork lift which were wrongly parked be­sides im­pos­ing fine to the vi­o­la­tors. He said strict ac­tion would be taken against the vi­o­laters.—APP
