Lap­tops dis­trib­uted among 429 stu­dents


AB­BOT­TABAD—Four hun­dred twenty nine lap­tops were dis­trib­uted among the MS and PhD stu­dents of Com­sats In­sti­tute of In­for­ma­tion& Tech­nol­ogy un­der the Prime Min­is­ter’s Lap­tops Scheme here Mon­day.

Prof. Dr Ar­shad Ali who is Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor of Higher Ed­u­ca­tion Com­mis­sion was the chief guest. Yasir Ali Ab­basi, who is a hand­i­capped stu­dent of MS pro­gramme, was on of the Lap­tops re­cip­i­ent of lap­top.

Makhdoom Adeel ur Rehman, Chief Co­or­di­na­tor (Mon­i­tor­ing) of Prime Min­is­ter’s Youth Pro­gramme in his speech said govt has in­creased the budget of ed­u­ca­tion to 80 bil­lion ru­pees. He asked the par­tic­i­pants to put for­ward sug­ges­tions and feed­back from the stu­dents to make the sys­tems more youth friendly.

He told that the Govt. is play­ing its part in a small way by giv­ing away 100, 000 lap­tops ev­ery year on purely merit ba­sis to the stu­dents of Pak­istan. It is now up to the stu­dents to use these lap­tops for gain­ing fur­ther knowl­edge and to avail and share the op­por­tu­ni­ties with their fel­lows who do not have them.

Prof. Dr. Ar­shad Ali in his ad­dress ap­pre­ci­ated the hard work and ef­forts of the man­age­ment, fac­ulty and staff of the cam­pus to en­able the stu­dents to study in such a beau­ti­ful and serene set­ting of the land­scape. He con­grat­u­lated the CIIT stu­dents on the award of the lap­tops, and asked them to work hard and be a role model for the so­ci­ety.
