MIRPUR (AJK)—The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Ch. Abdul Majeed said here on Monday that scheduled July 21 general elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir will be held under the supervision of army. Ch. Majeed categorically declared that Ch. Muhammad Ashraf will be the candidate of the ruling PPP from Mirpur City LA-III constituency. Whereas Raja Imtiaz will be the candidate of the party from Bhimbher City electoral constituency in the elections. The Prime Minister categorically dispelled the impression and rumors, fanned by some quarters, about reported skipping off the party’s candidature by its nominee Ch. Muhammad Ashraf after recent serious differences with the Prime Minister (Ch. Abdul Majeed) house.
Sources close to Ch. Ashraf, it may be added, had, earlier, allegedly aired rumors about returning of the party ticket by Ch. Muhammad Ashraf to contest the election as independent candidate as a protest against the indifferent and insincere attitude of the AJK Prime Minister towards his election campaign as the candidate of the PPP from Mirpur City constituency.
The Prime Minister said that his government was fully cooperating with Election Commission of the State to ensure holding of the Scheduled AJK Legislative Assembly elections in free, fair and transparent manner. The AJK Premier said that his government believed in transparency in democracy and will not let any group or party to hijack the public mandate in the polls.—APP
