Voice of the People

Let’s join to eliminate hunger

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - LARAIB SHAH

Have you ever thought about what is it like to have no food to eat? I am sure that most people do not have to worry about being hungry everyday, but there are people who do. There are currently 925 million people that are starving in the world today. It hurts to think about all of those people that do not make it through the night because of not having any food. According to the definition in the Oxford English Dictionary hunger is ‘the uneasy or painful sensation caused by want of food; craving appetite; also the exhausted condition caused by want of food’. There are so many ways that hunger can be eliminated from the world. Together, we could raise money, start food drives, and even teach advanced methods for growing food to those countries, which are in need of food. If just one person gets out there and helps feed the hungry; just imagine, how many lives could be saved by just having a realization of the problem and contributing a small share towards this end. It’s amazing how much just one person can do. There are so many around the world that are dying every minute from starvation, but by raising awareness, showing the statistics, and giving ideas, we can end world hunger. We live in a world where so many have no clue about the people in need of food. I feel, so many people don’t show their human traits to those who need our help. Of course, there are a number of people who show their kindness to those in need. Just think about the ones who are worried about having their next meal. Starvation is everywhere and we need to put an end to it as soon as we can. It has taken enough lives. If we all get united, then this dream of no hunger could actually be a reality! We can do this if we really try! — Via email
