Tibb education in PU

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - PROF DR USMAN GHANI

University of Punjab planned to initiate the establishment of Department of Eastern Medicine in September-October 2005, which is still projected on its website. The University, therefore, advertised the admission in 2005 and admitted 30 students in this programme. But the Pharmacy School, on pressure from influential known quarters, closed the programme.

The students were forced to leave the programme of Eastern Medicine and were not only shunted out, but were denied to deposit the requisite fee. So this programme is still held in abeyance. The people and the students are continuously demanding that this programme be again reopened for benefits of curative, preventive and promotive healthcare design with herbal medicine to cover healthcare for all. — Karachi
