ADB to pro­vide tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance for skill upgra­da­tion

SALIM AHMED LA­HORE—Asian De­vel­op­ment Bank (ADB) will pro­vide tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance for skill up-gra­da­tion in the prov­ince of the Pun­jab. This ini­tia­tive will im­prove the skill­ful train­ing be­ing im­parted at TEVTA In­sti­tutes. It was stated by Chair­per­son TEVTA Ir­fan Qaiser Sheikh while talk­ing with the mis­sion of Asian De­vel­op­ment Bank dur­ing visit here Mon­day at TEVTA Sec­re­tar­iat. The mis­sion mem­bers in­cluded Di­rec­tor, Cen­tral and West Asia De­part­ment Rie Hi­raoka and Se­nior Project Of­fi­cer, Pak­istan Res­i­dent Mis­sion Is­mat Raza. Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and TEVTA Of­fi­cers were also present on this occasion.

Sheikh said that del­e­ga­tion of Asian De­vel­op­ment Bank has dis­cussed in de­tail to ex­plore the pos­si­bil­i­ties of co­op­er­a­tion with TEVTA Pun­jab in spe­cific and the skills sec­tor at large. ADB will sup­port for lat­est train­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for youth of the Pun­jab, In­dus­try-in­sti­tute link­age, teach­ers train­ing and place­ment of TEVTA pass-outs across the prov­ince of the Pun­jab. He briefed the mis­sion that a mod­ern sys­tem of com­pe­tence based train­ing and as­sess­ment has been launched in lines of in­ter­na­tional stan­dard instead of tra­di­tional train­ing.

Chair­per­son TEVTA fur­ther said that we have also com­pleted the tar­gets given by World Bank for PSDP for 2015-16. In­dus­try Part­ner­ship Pro­gram has also suc­cess­fully been launched in or­der to pro­vide qual­ity tech­ni­cal ed­u­ca­tion as per de­mand of in­dus­try.
