53 dams com­pleted

IS­LAM­ABAD— Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Min­is­ter for Ed­u­ca­tion and En­ergy Atif Khan has said that 53 small dams have been com­pleted to pro­vide cheap elec­tric­ity to the lo­cal peo­ple within next few months. Talk­ing to a pri­vate news chan­nel, Atif Khan said provin­cial gov­ern­ment has de­cided that more small river run power projects will be con­structed out of planned 356 dams. The min­is­ter said the KP En­ergy De­vel­op­ment Board has also planned 21 mega projects to pro­duce 3,631 megawatt elec­tric­ity. He said th­ese projects will cost Rs 120 bil­lion. He said that KP gov­ern­ment do not have enough re­sources to make fund­ing for th­ese projects and it will try to bring pri­vate in­vest­ment. The min­is­ter said that KP gov­ern­ment has added 57 megawatt elec­tric­ity to the na­tional grid.—APP
