De­cency, hon­esty hall­marks of traf­fic war­dens: Dur­rani

PESHAWAR—The In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Dur­rani has said that po­lite­ness, hon­esty and com­mit­ment shall be the hall­mark of ev­ery traf­fic sergeant. This he said, while dis­tribut­ing cash award and com­men­da­tion cer­tifi­cates amongst the traf­fic war­dens on out­stand­ing per­for­mance in the field in a cer­e­mony held at Cen­tral Po­lice Of­fice here on Tues­day.

In Peshawar traf­fic war­den un­der dif­fer­ent names i.e Tiger Squad, Chefs, Rapid Re­sponse Ser­vice, Static Point Ticket Of­fi­cer and Fork Lifter are per­form­ing du­ties in dif­fer­ent places. The real yard­stick of their per­for­mance is giv­ing more traf­fic chal­lans on dif­fer­ent traf­fic vi­o­la­tions with­out any pub­lic com­plaints in this re­gard.

Among five DSPs, Rahim Hus­sain DSP head quar­ters was ad­judged best while in 12 tigers per­form­ing duty on Ring Road, In­spec­tor Muham­mad Ja­mal, in 60 mo­tor­cy­cle chefs squad, ticket of­fi­cer Sakhi Jan, in Rapid Re­sponse Squad (RRS) which is mainly re­spon­si­ble to chal­lan VVIPs, ticket of­fi­cer Rasheed Khan, in 20 Fork lifters, ticket of­fi­cer Suhrab Khan and Static point, ticket of­fi­cer Naza­hat Shah were de­clared best traf­fic war­den on the bases of their per­for­mance in the last three months.

Ad­dress­ing on the oc­ca­sion, IGP Nasir Khan Dur­rani said a sin­gle traf­fic war­den rep­re­sents the whole force on the road and great re­spon­si­bil­ity de­volves on his shoul­der to per­form its duty in a bet­ter and dig­ni­fied man­ner.

The IGP pointed out traf­fic duty was very dif­fi­cult as be­side traf­fic reg­u­lat­ing traf­fic sergeant is un­der con­stant threat from the mis­cre­ants. He, how­ever, di­rected the awardees to per­form its duty with wis­dom, ex­hibit ex­cel­lent be­hav­ior with the com­muters and added that po­lite­ness, hon­esty and com­mit­ment shall be the hall­mark of ev­ery traf­fic sergeant.

They were fur­ther di­rected to win hearts and minds of pub­lic through de­cent be­hav­ior, which is es­sen­tial part and par­cel of their duty. The IGP awarded above traf­fic war­dens with cash prizes and com­men­da­tion cer­tifi­cates. Prin­ci­pal Staff Of­fi­cer to IGP Muham­mad Afzal was also present on this oc­ca­sion.
