OIC sub-of­fice be­ing set up in Ra­mal­lah

JED­DAH—Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of the Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Is­lamic Co­op­er­a­tion (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani will be of­fi­cially in­au­gu­rat­ing the OIC’s rep­re­sen­ta­tion of­fice to the State of Pales­tine on Mon­day, 27 June 2016, with the pres­ence of Pres­i­dent Mah­moud Ab­bas and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Mem­ber States.

The in­au­gu­ral cer­e­mony will be pre­ceded by a meet­ing be­tween the OIC Sec­re­tary Gen­eral and the Pales­tinian For­eign Min­is­ter, Dr. Riyadh Al­maleki, for the sign­ing of the agree­ment on the open­ing of the OIC’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive of­fice in Pales­tine, which will be head­quar­tered in Ra­mal­lah.

The role of the OIC of­fice in Ra­mal­lah will be to sup­port the OIC and its or­gans in as­sist­ing the Pales­tinian peo­ple, con­tribut­ing to the con­struc­tion of their na­tional in­sti­tu­tions and re­spond­ing to their needs in ac­cor­dance with the res­o­lu­tions is­sued on the cause of Pales­tine and Al Quds.

The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral had ap­pointed Mr. Ah­mad Al Rwaidyas Direc­tor for the OIC’s first rep­re­sen­ta­tion of­fice to the State of Palestine­and pre­sented him with the de­ci­sion to as­sume his du­ties early in the month of May. Rwaidy served be­fore in the Pales­tinian Pres­i­dency’s cab­i­net as head of Al Quds Unit and then as ad­vi­sor for Al Quds affairs.

It may be re­called that the OIC For­eign Min­is­ters Coun­cil ap­proved, at its 42nd ses­sion, held in the State of Kuwait in the end of May 2015, the es­tab­lish­ment of the OIC rep­re­sen­ta­tion.—Email
