OIC sub-office being set up in Ramallah
JEDDAH—Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani will be officially inaugurating the OIC’s representation office to the State of Palestine on Monday, 27 June 2016, with the presence of President Mahmoud Abbas and representatives of the Member States.
The inaugural ceremony will be preceded by a meeting between the OIC Secretary General and the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Dr. Riyadh Almaleki, for the signing of the agreement on the opening of the OIC’s representative office in Palestine, which will be headquartered in Ramallah.
The role of the OIC office in Ramallah will be to support the OIC and its organs in assisting the Palestinian people, contributing to the construction of their national institutions and responding to their needs in accordance with the resolutions issued on the cause of Palestine and Al Quds.
The Secretary General had appointed Mr. Ahmad Al Rwaidyas Director for the OIC’s first representation office to the State of Palestineand presented him with the decision to assume his duties early in the month of May. Rwaidy served before in the Palestinian Presidency’s cabinet as head of Al Quds Unit and then as advisor for Al Quds affairs.
It may be recalled that the OIC Foreign Ministers Council approved, at its 42nd session, held in the State of Kuwait in the end of May 2015, the establishment of the OIC representation.—Email
