Na­tional ju­nior badminton team se­lected for Thai­land tour

IS­LAM­ABAD—Pak­istan badminton se­lec­tion com­mit­tee has se­lected the na­tional ju­nior team to par­tic­i­pate in the Asian Ju­nior Badminton Cham­pi­onship start­ing next month in Thai­land.

All the selections were made af­ter hold­ing one month train­ing camp which was fol­lowed by the tri­als, re­ported a pri­vate news chan­nel.

Peshawar’s Zo­haib Khan Khalil has also booked berth in the four-mem­ber Na­tional badminton ju­nior team while other play­ers se­lected for the na­tional team in­clude Ai­mar Jala, Shameer and Shahroz Jameel.

Zo­haib Khalil has also rep­re­sented Pak­istan in a num­ber of in­ter­na­tional events in Sri Lanka, China and Malaysia.

A total of 16 play­ers par­tic­i­pated from all over the coun­try. The tour­na­ment will be held from July 9 to 11 in Thai­land.— APP

He ruled out any chance of play­ing at the Rio Olympics in Au­gust.

Swe­den’s coach Erik Ham­ren said “this will be a big loss. He is unique.”
