Malakand stu­dent gets Rs500,000 re­ward

PESHAWAR —Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Min­is­ter for El­e­men­tary and Se­condary Ed­u­ca­tion Muham­mad Atif Khan Wed­nes­day on be­half of Chief Min­is­ter Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khat­tak gave a cheque of Rs 500,000 to Shah Faisal, a bril­liant stu­dent of Malakand Board who had topped the F.Sc Com­puter Sci­ence an­nual ex­am­i­na­tion 2015 by se­cur­ing 869 marks.

The said stu­dent had also se­cured first po­si­tion through­out the prov­ince in com­puter sci­ence ETEA en­try test. Ad­di­tional Sec­re­tary Ed­u­ca­tion Qaiser Alam and Far­man Ali fa­ther of Shah Faisal were also present on the oc­ca­sion.

Ad­dress­ing the cer­e­mony Muham­mad Atif Khan said that the po­si­tion holder stu­dent of gov­ern­ment schools and col­leges de­serve to be awarded by the gov­ern­ment as they did not en­joy the fa­cil­i­ties as the stu- dents of pri­vate in­sti­tu­tions.

He said the parents of gov­ern­ment schools’ stu­dents do not have suf­fi­cient re­sources to give their chil­dren best high ed­u­ca­tion, adding the gov­ern­ment was tak­ing a num­ber of steps for im­prov­ing stan­dard of ed­u­ca­tion at gov­ern­ment schools.

He said for the pur­pose, the gov­ern­ment was en­cour­ag­ing the bril­liant stu­dent of gov­ern­ment schools and col­leges by award­ing cash award to them. He said the gov­ern­ment has also taken a num­ber of steps to dis­cour­age cheat­ing at ex­am­i­na­tion cen­tres.

He said for the first time in the his­tory of the prov­ince, a bulk of amount has been ear­marked in the bud­get for ed­u­ca­tion due to which the per­for­mance of ed­u­ca­tion de­part­ment has im­proved. Ear­lier, Atif Khan con­grat­u­lated Shah Faisal and his fa­ther Far­man Ali over the achieve­ment and hoped Shah Faisal would earn a good name in the near fu­ture.
