Anti-profiteering drive launched
ZHOB—The district administration has started a vigorous anti-profiteering drive here on Wednesday in order to ensure the availability of edible items at controlled rates and curbing the profiteering tendency during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Raz Muhmmad Kakar during a surprise visit to bazaar raided at different shops and fined many shopkeepers for profiteering and selling substandard food items.
He was flanked by Tehsildar Syed Muhammad Mandokhail, Chief Officer Abdul Qadir Tarakai, Incharge slaughter house Dr. Naseebullah Kakar, Tehsildar Mehtab Shah, Labour Inspector Qasim Khan Mandokhail and President Bazaar Union Gul Zaman Nasar.
Majority of the shopkeepers, butchers, milks and fruit sellers on Kandahari bazaar, Market Road, Jail Road, Quetta Road and Pir Ghafoor Shah Road were caught red-handed while overcharging and blatantly violating the officially approved prices. Some had also not displayed the rate list ‘Narkhnama’ at their outlets. “The authorities concerned should be more vigilant and take strict action against the illegal profiteering without discrimination to curb the menace”.
