Anti-prof­i­teer­ing drive launched

ZHOB—The dis­trict ad­min­is­tra­tion has started a vig­or­ous anti-prof­i­teer­ing drive here on Wed­nes­day in or­der to en­sure the avail­abil­ity of ed­i­ble items at con­trolled rates and curb­ing the prof­i­teer­ing ten­dency dur­ing the Holy month of Ra­madan.

Ad­di­tional Deputy Com­mis­sioner (G) Raz Muh­m­mad Kakar dur­ing a sur­prise visit to bazaar raided at dif­fer­ent shops and fined many shop­keep­ers for prof­i­teer­ing and sell­ing sub­stan­dard food items.

He was flanked by Tehsil­dar Syed Muham­mad Mandokhail, Chief Of­fi­cer Ab­dul Qadir Tarakai, In­charge slaugh­ter house Dr. Nasee­bul­lah Kakar, Tehsil­dar Me­htab Shah, Labour In­spec­tor Qasim Khan Mandokhail and Pres­i­dent Bazaar Union Gul Za­man Nasar.

Ma­jor­ity of the shop­keep­ers, butch­ers, milks and fruit sell­ers on Kan­da­hari bazaar, Mar­ket Road, Jail Road, Quetta Road and Pir Ghafoor Shah Road were caught red-handed while over­charg­ing and bla­tantly vi­o­lat­ing the of­fi­cially ap­proved prices. Some had also not dis­played the rate list ‘Narkhnama’ at their out­lets. “The author­i­ties con­cerned should be more vig­i­lant and take strict ac­tion against the il­le­gal prof­i­teer­ing with­out dis­crim­i­na­tion to curb the men­ace”.
