Schol­ars urged to work against po­lio virus

QUETTA—A meet­ing at Po­lio Emer­gency Cen­ter here in Quetta em­pha­sized on re­li­gious schol­ars to play their im­por­tant role in the so­ci­ety to aware peo­ple against fa­tal dis­eases in­clud­ing po­lio that be­ing threat­en­ing our chil­dren’s fu­ture.

“With­out re­li­gious schol­ars sup­port, we can­not build a wel­fare so­ci­ety, peo­ple only can be aware against fa­tal dis­eases if re­li­gious schol­ars come for­ward to guide them about vac­ci­na­tion pro­gram that only can era­di­ate fa­tal dis­eases,” the par­tic­i­pants of the meet­ing said.

The meet­ing to dis­cuss re­li­gious con­cern to run cam­paign against fa­tal dis­ease like po­lio was held here where Ad­di­tional Com­mis­sioner Quetta Di­vi­sion Muham­mad Ishaq, Dr. Atta ur Rehman, Maulana An­war ul Haq Haqani, Dr. Aftab Kakar, Muham­mad Azam from WHO and other offi- cials were gath­ered in Emer­gency po­lio cen­ter.

Ad­dress­ing the meet­ing, Muham­mad Ishaq said, “Re­li­gious schol­ars have a vi­tal role to form an Is­lamic and wel­fare so­ci­ety and they can bring pos­i­tive changes in the so­ci­ety through their voice and rhetoric.” “If the re­li­gious part of the so­ci­ety starts to aware peo­ple against fa­tal dis­ease like po­lio and TB, we can make a healthy so­ci­ety for our fu­ture gen­er­a­tion,” he added.

He said that Pak­istan and Afghanistan are the only coun­tries where the en­demic po­lio virus was still ac­tive and par­a­lyz­ing our chil­dren. Dr Aftab Kakar said that vac­ci­na­tion pro­gram against fa­tal dis­ease have been play­ing an im­por­tant role, “We have achieved im­por­tant goals af­ter get­ting sup­port from re­li­gious part of the so­ci­ety”.
