ICT Ad­min fines 138 prof­i­teers

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory (ICT) Ad­min­is­tra­tion has im­posed fine of Rs 288,100 on shop­keep­ers for over­charg­ing dur­ing its on-go­ing crack­down against prof­i­teers. On the di­rec­tions of Deputy Com­mis­sioner Islamabad, some 375 shops have been ran­domly in­spected in the city so far, said ICT spokesman Muham­mad Gul­fam on Wed­nes­day.

He said that se­nior of­fi­cers of ICT Ad­min­is­tra­tion in­clud­ing Acs, MICs and spe­cial price mag­is­trates are reg­u­larly car­ry­ing out in­spec­tions in their as­signed areas/mar­kets all over the city un­der the su­per­vi­sion of ADC(G) Capt (R) Ab­dul Sat­tar Isani, and stern ac­tion is be­ing taken against the prof­i­teers for over­charg­ing.

More­over, the rates and qual­ity of all es­sen­tial items in­clud­ing meat, chicken, dairy prod­ucts, pulses, rice, flour etc have been en­forced and reg­u­lated, he added.

Since in­cep­tion of the holy month of Ramzan, he said some 2,890 prof­i­teers have been fined amount­ing to Rs 5,542,000.—APP
