Health min­is­ter de­clares high alert in govt hos­pi­tals

KARACHI—Sindh Min­is­ter for Health Jam Me­htab Hus­sain Da­har while declar­ing high alert in gov­ern­ment hos­pi­tals on ac­count of ex­pected heavy mon­soon rains, has di­rected all Med­i­cal Su­per­in­ten­dents of pub­lic sec­tor hos­pi­tals to can­cel all leaves of doc­tors and other med­i­cal staff.

He also di­rected them to en­sure their pres­ence round the clock as well stock good num­ber of medicines in their re­spec­tive hos­pi­tals.

These di­rec­tives he is­sued while pre­sid­ing over a meet­ing here in his of­fice on Wed­nes­day.

Sec­re­tary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo and other of­fi­cers also at­tended the meet­ing.

He said that epi­demic like malaria and dier­re­he­ria etc might out­break in rainy sea­son. So we should pre­pare our­selves for any un­to­ward sit­u­a­tion to be faced, he added.

For the pur­pose we have to main­tain a good stock of medicines, the Health Min­is­ter added there is no dearth of funds in Health De­part­ment.

Just we are sup­posed to main­tain trans­parency in pur­chas­ing and stock­ing of the medicines, he said.

He di­rected the Sec­re­tary Health to take strict ac­tion against those Med­i­cal Su­per­in­ten­dents and DHOs who were found in­volved in neg­li­gence.

Me­htab Da­har also en­sured that ac­tion was be­ing taken against ab­sent em­ploy­ees of Health De­part­ment.

The Met De­part­ment has pre­dicted heavy rain­fall this year so we have to be very vig­i­lant be­cause it is the mat­ter of hu­man lives, he con­cluded.—APP
