Health minister declares high alert in govt hospitals
KARACHI—Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar while declaring high alert in government hospitals on account of expected heavy monsoon rains, has directed all Medical Superintendents of public sector hospitals to cancel all leaves of doctors and other medical staff.
He also directed them to ensure their presence round the clock as well stock good number of medicines in their respective hospitals.
These directives he issued while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Wednesday.
Secretary Health Ahmed Bux Narejo and other officers also attended the meeting.
He said that epidemic like malaria and dierreheria etc might outbreak in rainy season. So we should prepare ourselves for any untoward situation to be faced, he added.
For the purpose we have to maintain a good stock of medicines, the Health Minister added there is no dearth of funds in Health Department.
Just we are supposed to maintain transparency in purchasing and stocking of the medicines, he said.
He directed the Secretary Health to take strict action against those Medical Superintendents and DHOs who were found involved in negligence.
Mehtab Dahar also ensured that action was being taken against absent employees of Health Department.
The Met Department has predicted heavy rainfall this year so we have to be very vigilant because it is the matter of human lives, he concluded.—APP
