PRs to an­nounce more con­ces­sion in fares

IS­LAM­ABAD—The Pak­istan Rail­ways is plan­ning to an­nounce con­ces­sion in fares to fa­cil­i­tate the pas­sen­gers on Eid-ul- Fitr. “A pro­posal to re­duce fare on Eid will be for­warded to Min­is­ter for Rail­ways Khawaja Saad Rafique,” of­fi­cial sources in the Min­istry told APP.

They said that Pak­istan Rail­ways had an­nounced con­ces­sion in fairs ev­ery year on Is­lamic fes­tiv­ity to pro­vide re­lief to the pas­sen­gers, who go to cel­e­brate Eid with their beloved one. To a ques­tion, they said the re­duc­tion in fare also at­tracts more pas­sen­gers and help gen­er­ate more rev­enue for the na­tional en­tity.

“Pak­istan Rail­ways has taken sev­eral steps to fa­cil­i­tate the pas­sen­gers as it is a cheaper mode of trans­porta­tion for the gen­eral pub­lic,” they said. It is per­ti­nent to men­tion here that, Pak­istan Rail­ways has also an­nounced a spe­cial pack­age for the Holy Month of Ra­madan by re­duc­ing fares up to 10-25 per­cent to fa­cil­i­tate the pas­sen­gers.

The spe­cial pack­age was ap­pli­ca­ble from the start of the holy month of Ra­mazan till 20th of Ra­mazan. The de­ci­sion has been taken on the di­rec­tives of Min­is­ter for Rail­ways and the fa­cil­ity will be avail­able for the pas­sen­gers in the form of ad­vanced reser­va­tion of seats only.

The pas­sen­gers have provided fa­cil­ity of re­duced fares up to 16-25 per­cent in trains of dif­fer­ent classes of Ba­haud­din Zakaria, Sukker Ex­press, Mul­tan Ex­press and Mehr Ex­press. Karachi Ex­press, Pak Busi­ness, Jaf­fer Ex­press, Ba­haud­din Zakaria Ex­press have of­fered dis­count in fares up to 11-15 per­cent.

How­ever, Mil­lat Ex­press, Tez Gam, Awam Ex­press, Al­lama Iqbal, Subuk Khu­ram, Rawal Ex­press, Is­lam­abad Ex­press and Mar­galla Ex­press have gave dis­count up to 10 per­cent in fares. The Pak­istan Rail­ways (PR) has de­cided to run 10 spe­cial trains on Eid to fa­cil­i­tate pas­sen­gers on spe­cial di­rec­tion of Rail­ways Min­is­ter Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease is­sued here on Thurs­day, two spe­cial Eid trains would run be­tween Karachi and Pe­shawar on July 3 at 11:00 am, for Malak­wal the train would leave at 8:35pm while the third spe­cial train would leave from Quetta for Rawalpindi at 11:30am.—APP
