Sports play pivotal role in development of nations
PESHAWAR—Secretary Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Tahir Hassan Thursday said that for the motivation of youth towards healthy activities, sports should be given importance rather taking it for granted.
He said this during a meeting with the seven member delegation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association which called on him at his office here.
Secretary Information KP Muhammad Tahir Hassan said that nations developed in all spheres of life only because of a healthy and motivated youth with a good brain and better physical health.
He said presently 63 percent of the population was that of youth and it was high time to motivate them towards healthy activities.
Tahir Hassian said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for the first time in the history has introduced the youth policy that would go a long way in promotion of sports activities of the Province.
He also lauded the efforts made by Secretary General of the Association of International Press Sports (AIPS) Asia Amjad Aziz Malik, who was also President Pakistan Sports Writers Association for establishing an office of the AIPS-Asia in Peshawar.
“It will go a long way as far as developing a softer image of the province,” Tahir Hassan said. He assured that sports magazine publishing with sports news, and sports activities would be given a separate status in order to support them on the part of the government.
He disclosed that soon a plan would be chalked out with the help of AIPS Asia, Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) and KP Sports Writers Association (KP SWA) to develop sports at local, provincial, national and international levels to setup a target goal for the overall development of sports.
He termed the idea of National Sports Conference in Peshawar a right decision in the right direction.
The delegation was led by Chairman KP SWA Ijaz Ahmad and included President Jehanzeb Siddique, VPs Imran Yousafzai, Ehtisham Bashir, Secretary KP SWA Arshad Dar, Coordinator Azmat Ullah and Treasurer Sheraz Hassan.
The delegation appraised him about the forthcoming National Sports Conference wherein sports journalists from print and electronic media, prominent anchors and journalists from aboard would be part of the Conference.
The delegation informed him that the conference was aimed to project softer image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wherein journalists from across the country would participate and deliver their lectures about the promotion of healthy sports activities.
