Min­is­ter di­rects to con­tinue crack­down on il­le­gal blood banks

KARACHI—Sindh Health Min­is­ter, Jam Me­htab Hus­sain Da­har on Thurs­day directed Sec­re­tary, Sindh Blood Trans­fu­sion Au­thor­ity (SBTA), Dr. Zahid An­sari to en­sure safe blood to the pa­tients and to con­tinue crack­down against il­le­gal blood banks.

This was said by the Min­is­ter while laud­ing the co­op­er­a­tion of Ger­man De­vel­op­ment Bank (Kred­i­tanstalt fur Wieder­auf­bau-KFW) in pro­vid­ing safe blood to pa­tients in Sindh, said a state­ment.

The Min­is­ter has ex­pressed hope that KFW De­vel­op­ment Bank will con­tinue its co­or­di­na­tion to fa­cil­i­tate the poor and de­serv­ing pa­tients in the prov­ince. The state­ment said that an agree­ment was signed be­tween Sindh Health Depart­ment and the KFW De­vel­op­ment Bank.

Sec­re­tary, Health, Ahmed Bux Narejo and Ma­sooma Zaidi from the KFW De­vel­op­ment Bank signed the agree­ment while Dr. Zahid An­sari was also present. Un­der this agree­ment, in sec­ond phase, the KFW De­vel­op­ment Bank will fa­cil­i­tate three more blood banks in Sindh in term of man­age­ment in­for­ma­tion sys­tem.

The KFW De­vel­op­ment Bank will fa­cil­i­tate the SBTA in lab equip­ments, tech­ni­cal train­ing to hu­man re­source and waste dis­posal and tech­ni­cal con­sul­ta­tion as well.

Dr. Zahid An­sari told that it would en­hance work­ing ca­pac­ity of SBTA and en­able us to serve the pa­tients in bet­ter way.—APP
