Women protest against lead­ers de­ten­tion

SRI­NA­GAR—In oc­cu­pied Kash­mir, Kash­mir Tehreek-e-Khawa­teen (KTK), a con­stituent of the All Par­ties Hur­riyet Con­fer­ence, staged a demon­stra­tion in Sri­na­gar against the con­tin­ued il­le­gal de­ten­tion of Hur­riyet lead­ers and ac­tivists.

The women ac­tivists of KTK led by the party Chair­per­son, Zam­ruda Habib, as­sem­bled at Press En­clave in Sri­na­gar and staged the demon­stra­tion.

They de­manded im­me­di­ate re­lease of all Kash­miri pris­on­ers lan­guish­ing in dif­fer­ent jails.

Zam­ruda Habib talk­ing to me­dia per­sons on the oc­ca­sion termed the de- ten­tion of youth and Hur­riyet lead­ers in­clud­ing Masar­rat Aalam Butt as il­le­gal.

She said that hun­dreds of Kash­miri peo­ple had been lan­guish­ing in jails and most of them had com­pleted their jail term but were not be­ing re­leased de­spite that.

She ap­pealed to the in­ter­na­tional com­mu­nity to play its role in the re­lease of the Kash­miri de­tainees.

“We are also protest­ing to draw the at­ten­tion of the in­ter­na­tional com­mu­nity to­wards the ur­gency in­volved in the res­o­lu­tion of the Kash­mir dis­pute,” the protest­ing women said.—KMS
