Women protest against leaders detention
SRINAGAR—In occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen (KTK), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, staged a demonstration in Srinagar against the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists.
The women activists of KTK led by the party Chairperson, Zamruda Habib, assembled at Press Enclave in Srinagar and staged the demonstration.
They demanded immediate release of all Kashmiri prisoners languishing in different jails.
Zamruda Habib talking to media persons on the occasion termed the de- tention of youth and Hurriyet leaders including Masarrat Aalam Butt as illegal.
She said that hundreds of Kashmiri people had been languishing in jails and most of them had completed their jail term but were not being released despite that.
She appealed to the international community to play its role in the release of the Kashmiri detainees.
“We are also protesting to draw the attention of the international community towards the urgency involved in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” the protesting women said.—KMS
