Flour shortage due to load-shedding

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - ATIYA MOOSA — Via email

14 hours load shedding has brought in shortage of wheat flour resulting in escalation in the flour price. Millers have said that the supply of flour to markets has been reduced to just half of the routine supply. According to reports, the issue, for the time being, is being ignored because rural areas are not completely dependent on city grindings, and secondly, due to sufficient presence of wheat in markets.

But within some days the pipelines will dry up with great demand of flour in the month of Ramazan, said by PFMA. If the situation continues in the same manner, the coming 15 days will be more problematic with shortage of flour. Hence, the millers are demanding reduction in load shedding for maintaining the normal supplies of flour in markets.
