Amjad Sabri-A gem lost

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - RIDA HANIF

We have lost yet another great person from our industry, Amjad Sabri. He was such a great man with a wonderful voice in the art of Qawwali. A man with such talent can be killed is a big surprise for everyone in Pakistan. No one must have expected this to happen, actually nobody can even think of such dastardly act to happen. How can a man like Amjad Sabri be killed?

Incidence of violence in Karachi has become a common thing. People are being killed by guns, by bomb blasts and many other ways. Amjad Sabri was a Qawwal, a Sufi singer, so why did he get killed? He used to recite such wonderful qawwalis that used to bring people to tears. He was a simple honest non-partisan artiste committed to his profession, then why was he killed? Amjad Sabri was a man who recited beautiful Qawwalis with his beautiful voice. His Qawwali would win the hearts of millions of people. It’s unbelievable, how can one do such a dreadful thing?
