HCBA condemns harassment of jail inmates
SRINAGAR—In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association has strongly condemned the ill treatment meted out to the inmates of District Jail, Islamabad.
A spokesman of the Bar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the detainees in Islamabad jail were abused, tortured, humiliated and beaten everyday by the jail authorities for none of their faults.
“Bar Association also condemns the continued illegal detention and house detention of pro- freedom leaders without being produced before any magistrate for seeking their judicial or police remand,” the spokesman said.
The Bar Association appealed to the international human rights organizations including Amnesty International and Asia Watch to take notice of the plight of the prisoners lodged in jails and exert pressure on New Delhi to uphold and respect the human rights and not to torture or abuse detainees.—KMS
