Ab­dul­lah wins ICMS Squash Sum­mer League-2016

PESHAWAR—Ab­dul­lah Nawaz clinched top po­si­tion af­ter win­ning all 15 matches of the ICMS Squash Sum­mer League in Un­der-9 cat­e­gory be­ing played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Com­plex.

Be­sides win­ning all 15 matches, Ab­dul­lah Nawaz de­feated Ro­haid As­ghar in the last match and be­come un­beaten in 15match League Round he also re­mained un­beaten in the League wherein Ro­haid As­ghar won 14 matches in the same cat­e­gory by tak­ing sec­ond po­si­tion.

The fi­nal match played be­tween Ab­dul­lah Nawaz and Ro­haid As­ghar pro­vided great thrill for the sit­ting spec­ta­tors as both the young champ were stretched to five sets bat­tle.

The two were so ex­cited of tak­ing first and sec­ond po­si­tion re­spec­tively in the League or­ga­nized by Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Squash As­so­ci­a­tion.

Ro­haid As­ghar won the first set by 9-11 but he failed in the sec­ond won by Ab­dul­lah Nawaz with his su­perb length and cross court smashes. The score was 11-6. Again Ro­haid took the third set with score of 7-11 but Ab­dul­lah Nawaz staged a strong come back and won the fourth and fifth sets by 11-8 and fifth set by 11-5.

Mubeen won four matches and lost four, Ihtisham, Arsh and Talha also lost all matches as Fawad Khan lost all his matches. Azaan and Ma­jid also won four matches with Huza­ifa se­cured vic­to­ries in two matches.

In the Un­der-11 cat­e­gory Muham­mad Am­mad emerged as vic­to­ri­ous as he se­cured vic­to­ries in all of his 15 matches of the League Round. Muham­mad Ham­mad played his last league round match against his strong ri­val Hamza and se­cured vic­tory at 12-10, 11-9, 7-11, 8-11 and 12-10.

Both Muham­mad Am­mad and Hamza gave each other a tough fight with some beau­ti­ful nick and drops shorts were also wit­nessed in the 49th minute bat­tle.

Hamza got sec­ond po­si­tion by se­cur­ing vic­to­ries in 14 matches and lost only to Muham­mad Am­mad. Sheraz Ak­bar re­mained at third as he se­cured vic­to­ries in eight matches while Hu­mam Ah­mad got fourth po­si­tion by win­ning six matches and lost four matches.

The Sum­mer League was aimed at to pro­vide com­pet­i­tive ex­po­sure to the up­com­ing young­sters dur­ing the Holy month of Ra­mazan.

A to­tal of 52 play­ers took part ini­tially in the League and was later on out of the to­tal lot at draw of 16 play­ers each for the Un­der-9 and Un­der-11 cat­e­gories Ab­dul­lah Nawaz won all his matches in the Un­der-9 cat­e­gory and M. Am­mad was re­mained un­beaten in Un­der-11 cat­e­gory.

The fi­nal and prize dis­tri­bu­tion cer­e­mony will be or­ga­nized on July 1, 2016 with Chair­man KP Squash As­so­ci­a­tion and Direc­tor ICMS Ma­lik Ta­ja­mal Hayat will grace the oc­ca­sion as chief guest and will dis­trib­ute cash and uni­form among all the par­tic­i­pat­ing play­ers of the League.—APP
