Govt try­ing for con­sen­sus to cel­e­brate Eid same day

IS­LAM­ABAD—The Fed­eral gov­ern­ment has started ef­forts to evolve con­sen­sus among fed­er­at­ing units for cel­e­brat­ing Eid-ul-Fitr across the country on same day. Min­is­ter for Re­li­gious Af­fairs and In­ter­faith Har­mony Sar­dar Muham­mad Yousaf has started ef­forts by con­tact­ing re­li­gious schol­ars of var­i­ous school of thoughts for this pur­pose.

Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cial sources, the min­istry is plan­ning to con­vene the meet­ing of the Cen­tral Ruet-eHi­lal Com­mit­tee in Peshawar in­stead of Lahore for sight­ing the moon of Shawal. The Min­is­ter has al­ready made suc­cess­ful at­tempts for start­ing Ra­mazan-ulMubarak across the country same day (June 7).

The Min­is­ter also met sev­eral Ulema and Re­li­gious Schol­ars in­clud­ing Mufti Sha­habud­din Popalzai of Qasim Khan Mosque Peshawar for en­sur­ing same day start of Ramzanul-Mubarak. The min­is­ter has started same ef­forts by con­tact­ing re­li­gious schol­ars and Ulema to evolve con­sen­sus for cel­e­brat­ing same day Eid-ul-Fitr across the country.
