QIH an­nounces ad­di­tion of Nu­clear Imag­ing Ser­vices

IS­LAM­ABAD —Quaid-eAzam In­ter­na­tional Hos­pi­tal (Q.I.H) in­au­gu­rated its first Nu­clear Imag­ing Ser­vice (In­stal­la­tion of Gamma Cam­era). It will pro­vide new par­a­digm in care of heart dis­eases es­pe­cially in pa­tients who com­plain of chest pain said Dr. Ish­tiaq Ma­lik Con­sul­tant Nu­clear Car­di­ol­o­gist of Quaid e Azam In­ter­na­tional Hos­pi­tal on the oc­ca­sion of in­au­gu­ra­tion cer­e­mony of the Nu­clear Imag­ing ser­vice.

He said that Present prac­tice in Pak­istan for such pa­tient is to get pa­tient to car­diac catheter­i­za­tion and if there is block­age in coro­nary artery or ar­ter­ies, pa­tient will get sin­gle or mul­ti­ple stents based on ap­pear­ance of coro­nary ar­ter­ies. Dr. Ma­lik ex­plained var­i­ous fea­tures of the Nu­clear Imag­ing Ser­vice and said that Nu­clear Imag­ing is a branch of med­i­cal imag­ing that uses small amount of ra­dioac­tive ma­te­rial to di­ag­nose and de­ter­mine the sever­ity of or treat a va­ri­ety of dis­eases in­clud­ing many types of can­cers, heart dis­eases, Gas­troin­testi­nal, en­docrine, neu­ro­log­i­cal dis­or­der and other ab­nor­mal­i­ties within the body.
